Abstract
This study aimed to identify the correlation between the level of distributed leadership and the level of job satisfaction among heads of academic departments in the colleges of Wasit University, from the perspective of faculty members. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher used the descriptive correlational survey method. The study population consisted of all faculty members at Wasit University, totaling (2039) members. The researcher drew a simple random sample according to the required sample size formula using Richard Geiger's formula, resulting in a sample size of (323) faculty members, representing (15.8%) of the population. After conducting the appropriate statistical analysis, the study concluded the following: There is a high level of distributed leadership among heads of academic departments at Wasit University, from the perspective of faculty members, There is a high level of job satisfaction among heads of academic departments at Wasit University, from the perspective of faculty members.
There are no statistically significant differences at the significance level (α=0.05) between the arithmetic means of the assessments of faculty members. The sample's overall perception of distributed leadership was assessed based on the variables of specialization, academic title, and gender. The study revealed no statistically significant differences (α=0.05) between the mean scores of the sample's assessments of the overall level of distributed leadership based on these variables. Similarly, no statistically significant differences (α=0.05) were found between the mean scores of the sample's assessments of the overall level of job satisfaction based on these variables. However, a statistically significant positive correlation (α≤0.05) was found between distributed leadership and job satisfaction among department heads at Wasit University, as perceived by faculty members. The study recommended that Wasit University adopt official policies that encourage faculty participation in decision-making and expand the scope of academic committees with effective authority.
