Abstract

This study, after delving into the work of the poet Lamia Abbas Amara and observing and discovering the most important manifestations of the environment through the application of the environmental approach to her poetic experience, arrived at a set of conclusions that must be acknowledged, as follows: 1. In the introduction, I found, through theoretical analysis, that the presence of nature in any literary text without awareness of it and the importance of preserving it removes the literary text from the realm of environmental literature. The process of analyzing an environmental text does not stop at mere description, or what is called a superficial analysis of the text, or focusing solely on prominent aesthetic features. Rather, it seeks to deconstruct the relationships between humans and their environment and analyze all literary, cultural, economic, and political aspects. 2. The word "water," in its various manifestations (rain, sea, river, shore, streams), in the poetry of Lamia Abbas Amara, transcends the familiar and its conventional meaning. The lexicon carries new connotations, the most important of which are positive: growth, goodness, generosity, and giving. Negative connotations include destruction, drought, sadness, and alienation. 3. The poems of Lamia Abbas Amara reveal an interactive and participatory relationship between humanity and its natural environment, a kind of cohesion and unity among living beings, aimed at strengthening environmental awareness and preserving the environment, in line with the contemporary environmental movement. 4. The poet Lamia Abbas Amara excelled in her use and application of heritage in all its forms and manifestations. This included customs, traditions, social norms, and the incorporation of religious symbols as part of the formation of Iraqi identity, embodying the profound connection between the individual and society and revealing the contradiction between personal freedom and social constraints. The poems also explore the relationship between the individual and society. 5. Women featured prominently in the work of the poet Amara. Feminist environmental awareness significantly influenced her environmentally themed poems, allowing her to express the injustice, oppression, and marginalization suffered by Iraqi women under patriarchal dominance throughout history. She portrayed women in various roles, deeply connected to her own feelings and emotions, embodying the image of woman as mother, fighter, lover, laborer, beloved, and friend. 6. The homeland represented one of the most esteemed values in her overall poetic experience. It occupied a significant and expansive space, expressed through her passionate, almost infatuation-like, feminine sensibility. The image of the homeland appeared in her poems, symbolized by the father, mother, son, and beloved. 7. The spatial environment is one of the main tasks, as it forms the main focus of environmental criticism. The poet represented her environment, which contributed to shaping her identity and personality, by presenting the affiliation of (Amara) to the pure southern Iraqi environment, as it represents the safety of environmental systems from the dangers of belonging to another environment.
